Who we are

History
Over 150 years of history
At Bòbila Aguilera, we are much more than a company: we are a family that has been working the land by hand for five generations, with heart and the pride of an ancient craft. Our origins date back to the late 19th century, but it was from 1930 onwards that the production of handmade bricks, toves and tiles began uninterruptedly at the current brickworks, located in La Pobla de Claramunt, in the Anoia region.
Over the years, we have kept alive a way of working that has almost disappeared. We continue to use a traditional Hoffmann kiln with a Catalan vault, excavated into the rock, one of the few still operated manually in Catalonia. This kiln allows us to fire our artisanal pieces with a quality and character that no industrial process can match.
Our commitment
Our commitment to craftsmanship, quality and the land has led us to preserve a living heritage, allowing it to evolve with respect, while never renouncing our essence. Today, we continue to work with the same passion as our ancestors, offering handmade building materials with history, authenticity and a character of their own.
Tradition and authenticity
We have kept the bòbila running for over 150 years, without industrialising our processes.
Quality and sustainability
We work with locally sourced clay and earth, using natural processes and small-scale production to enhance product quality. Our firing is done with biomass, ensuring a more sustainable and environmentally friendly production process.
Unique identity
The Hoffmann kiln creates unique shades and textures, giving our products a soul of their own — something that sets them apart from industrial production.
How we work
At Bòbila Aguilera, we work the way it has always been done: with our hands, with time, and with respect for the raw materials. Our process is slow, natural, and entirely handmade. There is no rush and no automation — only earth, water, fire, and the experience accumulated over five generations. Every piece passes through our hands and reflects the value of true craftsmanship, with a rustic and unique character, faithful to tradition and to our surroundings.
Clay extraction and selection
We use local soil and clay, carefully selected according to the properties required for each type of piece.
Hand modelling
We shape each brick, tile, adobe and pitxolí (small handmade clay piece) by hand, one by one, using traditional moulds.
Natural drying
We let the pieces rest in the open air or in covered spaces, allowing them to dry slowly and evenly.
Firing in the Hoffmann kiln
We use a century-old continuous-flame kiln that gives each piece its own unique tones and textures, depending on the area of the kiln where it is fired.
Selection and distribution
We manually inspect each product before it leaves our workshop, offering direct and personal service to both clients and professionals in the sector.
